The week is over, as is Consensus 2018 and NYC Blockchain Week, so there is a lot to reflect on. Without further adieu, here is this week’s trending crypto news! 

Trending Crypto News | May 14 – May 18 

Monday 

Coins on the crypto markets started Monday both in the green and the red. While Ripple (available on Binance) (XRP) found itself up during the day, Cardano (ADA) found itself down. 

Monday was the first main day of Consensus 2018, and it was there Ripple (available on Binance) (XRP) announced its brand new initiative, deemed the Xpring project.

Further, Monday also saw announcements like OKEx surpassing Binance as the top crypto exchange, and various Deloitte veterans announcing that they are rolling out a tokenized exchange. 

Tuesday

Most of the top-ten coins took a plunge on Tuesday. This includes Ripple (available on Binance) (XRP) and Tron (available on Binance) (TRX). Despite that, there was still quite a bit of trending crypto news to come out of the day.

For starters, Ripple (available on Binance) hosted its XRP Community Night at Consensus 2018 Tuesday night. Additionally, Tuesday also saw announcements regarding Stellar (XLM). Specifically, IBM and Veridium announced that it will be using Stellar’s public blockchain for tokens.

Coinbase Launched 4 New Products 

Amazon Web Services announced that it partnered with ConsenSys

– eToro Expanding Trading to the United States 

Wednesday 

Similar to Tuesday, coins on the crypto markets were a sea of red Wednesday. Bitcoin (available on Coinbase) Cash (BCH) was down, so was Bitcoin (available on Coinbase) (BTC).

As for trending crypto news, Wednesday saw announcements like Brian Kelly starting a Blockchain ETF with REX Shares, and the SEC launching a fake initial coin offering website. Why? To educate the masses.

Thursday 

Coins were back in the green Thursday. It was a fairly quiet day, with Consensus 2018 ending. However, there were a few bits of trending crypto news that surfaced Thursday. Some of the top crypto announcements included: 

– Civic Rolling out a Decentralized Blockchain ID System

– Changelly Reinstating Verge (XVG)

Friday 

It’s another slow day on the market, with most coins in the red again. That said, there is some trending crypto news. For instance, it was announced that Switzerland is calling for a study on state cryptocurrency.
