The cryptocurrency market has taken a beating to start out August but it seems the market has made a shift this week. Currently, Bitcoin (available on Coinbase) (BTC) is trading just under $6,400 and Ethereum (available on Coinbase) (ETH), one of the top aLTCoin gainers today, is just below $300.

Let’s take a closer look at Ethereum (available on Coinbase) Classic (ETC) and Populous (PPT), as they are top aLTCoin gainers on the market today.

Coinbase will be launching Ethereum (available on Coinbase) Classic trading on its website and app today. Many coins see run-ups in their price prior to a new listing on major exchanges. Coinbase is currently mulling over a few other aLTCoins but Ethereum (available on Coinbase) Classic will be the first coin added to its platform in months.

Ethereum (available on Coinbase) Classic has just passed Iota and Tron (available on Binance) to take the 11th largest cryptocurrency by total market cap, just under Monero.

At press time, ETC is trading at $14.02 a coin, up 16.92%, in 24 hours.

Populous (PPT)

Populous is the aLTCoin in the top 100 that is seeing the most gains on the market today. There doesn’t seem to be any clear evidence as to why the coin is gaining on the market today but Twitter is full of Populous ‘pumping’ tweets.
