We all know it can be a pain to exchange foreign currency, but Amsterdam’s Schipol Airport is trying to help people avoid that hassle. Travellers going through Schipol Airport will now be able to exchange any leftover euros for cryptocurrency!

Specifically, people will be able to trade euros for Bitcoin (available on Coinbase) (BTC) or Ethereum (available on Coinbase) (ETH) at one of the several Bitcoin (available on Coinbase) ATMs that have been set up at Schipol’s Arrival Hall 2 and its Departure Halls 1 and 2.

According to the official press release reported on Wednesday, the ATMs are currently on a six-month trial period that Schipol will use to determine whETHer there is a sTron (available on Binance)g demand for exchanging euros for cryptocurrency.

Schipol has stated that they are the first airport in Europe to offer this type of service.

Tanja Dik, the Director of Consumer Products & Services at Schipol Airport, hopes that the new service will be useful to travellers and passengers, stating:

“With the Bitcoin (available on Coinbase) ATM, we hope to provide a useful service to passengers by allowing them to easily exchange ‘local’ euros for the ‘global’ cryptocurrencies Bitcoin (available on Coinbase) and Ethereum (available on Coinbase). That can be beneficial if, for instance, it’s not possible to spend euros in their home country.“

The trial was made in partnership with Schipol Airport and the Dutch software company ByeleX Data Solutions BV, under its cryptocurrency service The Byecoin Company.

ByeleX Director, Herman Vissia has said that the company is “excited that Schiphol is willing to join [ByeleX] in exploring ways to introduce passengers to the new cryptoreality.”

Schipol Airport sees millions of passengers go through its Gates every month. In February 2018, the airport saw approximately 4.8 million passengers travelling to, from, or via Schipol.
