Monero (XMR) is a coin that has been making headlines as of late. With that being said, not everything is rainbows and butterflies in the Monero (XMR) world. There is, in fact, a dark cloud hanging over the aLTCoin.

Just like Monero, Ethereum (available on Coinbase) (ETH) has been making headlines lately. Last week, the co-founder of Ethereum (available on Coinbase) hinted that sharding improvements would be coming to the Ethereum (available on Coinbase) network. That same week, it was disclosed that someone in South Korea had recorded the Panmunjom Declaration on the Ethereum (available on Coinbase) blockchain.

Furthermore, it was also disclosed last week that the government was thinking about regulating Ethereum (available on Coinbase) (ETH). This caused Ethereum (available on Coinbase) (ETH) to drop, and the meeting supposed between SEC and CFTC officials was scheduled for Monday. Word broke yesterday that this meeting never even happened.

That brings us to this week’s announcements. Yesterday, reports surfaced which stated the very first version of Ethereum (available on Coinbase)’s Casper code has been put out into the world.

The first release of the Casper the Friendly Finality Gadget (FFG) update code, designed to change the consensus mechanism in the Ethereum (available on Coinbase) network, is published on GitHub for study by external auditors and developers.
